If the beginning of a decade could be represented by photos, the above three would do it justice. 2020, like the previous years saw the staff at Pendeza Uganda  Read more

With the vision as a guide, our mission as the ultimate soure of encouragement, we braced ourselves for 'Tweny Tweny' as many of you called it.
Any PROGRESS in the first Half of 2020?With the support of our sponsors and partners, our core activities went on without any challenges.

In addition to that, a team from Pendeza Uganda visited HEED CHILDREN, and shared with them practical lessons on setting life goals, vision, mission among other skills. This was possible because, we desire to partner with like-minded organizations that are bringing about transformation in communities. During the three days training, fun-games, and networking were key aspects.

Early in 2020, Pendeza Uganda got a new member of the staff in the person of Polite Ayikiriza. She is a great team-player, always optimistic and has a great attitude towards work. In addition to offering her Accounting Skills to the organization, she also coordinates our Kireka Kamuli Branch. It is particularly heartwarming that she shares our passion for serving the vulnerable families and children. We look forward to the best from her, and given her constant willingness to learn and be better, we are certain of it.

Fast-forward to March, a new school-term is underway, but during the 2019 third-term holidays, we had had meetings with parents of children who are sponsored by you, our partners. The children were not performing to the standard we desired, partly because their parents (mostly illiterate), though willing were unable to help with home-work and basic coaching and mentorship from home.
The parents agreed to our proposal to have their children at the Deliverance Church premises after-school hours thrice each week. We sent out a call, and the volunteers came to our rescue. Theirs was to coach, and mentor both in academics and Godly principles.

That too commenced, and one of our volunteers, Ahebwa Isaac Nabimanya said, "The Experience has been very interesting . The children have made me recall things I last read in 2015. I've shown them some things but they have also reminded me of a lot."

Everything else, including our core services were running smoothly, until....
With the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic, first in the world and later making its way to Uganda, the team at Pendeza Uganda faced a new challenge, an unforeseen one at that. Like many law-abiding organisations, we followed the Government's directives and regulations given by the ministry of Health.

Everyone entering our premises had to have their hands sanitized. Standard operating procedures were adhered to, and physical cash handled with utmost caution.

When the Lock Down was first introduced, we needed to make adjustments. We couldn't do business as usual. Our financial services could go on through our Mobile Money, and banking. By this time, a lot of our planned work with the community and children had already been halted, but we had a new challenge.

Given the economic status of the majority of our clients, a lock-down meant they could not carryout their day-to-day  money-making ventures smoothly and their incomes were affected. Because many live from hand-to-mouth, food and basic hygiene items like soap were things they needed but could not afford. A call was made and through the support of the Deliverance Church family and other networks, we secured food which was delivered and distributed to the community. This was under a campaign that was dubbed, The Food Basket Campaign.
As at the time of sending this Newsletter, upto over 450 Food Baskets have been distributed and we are grateful to have been a part of this.
