At PENDEZA Uganda, we are committed to fighting poverty and helping vulnerable families and children in Uganda break out of poverty and thrive.
Every family has the God-given talents and skills to provide for themselves, but they often lack the resources to invest in their potential. That's where we come in.
Through our micro-enterprises, sustainable family development program, and child sponsorship opportunities, we mobilize, train, and equip families to create a better future for themselves.
We are driven by Christ's command to love our neighbor and make disciples of all nations. We are dedicated to providing discipleship and mentorship opportunities, capacity-building training, a safe place to save, micro-loans to community members, and quality education to highly vulnerable children from families under our program.
Together, we can make a difference and help lift families out of poverty.
Join us to transform communities through our three major program interventions.
1. Savings and Micro-enterprises: As Christ's followers, we seek to restore physical, social, spiritual, and personal well-being in places of brokenness. Through Christ-centered microenterprise development, we empower men and women to strengthen their families, build businesses, and unleash their dreams.
Poverty traps families in a vicious cycle of survival, leaving them with little mental or physical bandwidth to serve those around them. To help break this cycle, Pendeza Uganda supports vulnerable persons (women, men, and youth) in pooling savings together, borrowing, and starting income-generating projects that improve their livelihoods more sustainably.
Social networks are vital to reducing poverty, and we seek to empower individuals and families to rebuild their communities by reconnecting them to vital systems of society.
When connected neighbors share their influence in the marketplace, churches, education systems, health care, and political systems, communities will experience an even flow of resources, reducing the gap between the poor and the rich.
2. Sustainable family development:
We believe that families are the fundamental group unit of society and the fundamental agent for sustainable social, economic, and cultural development. Families must be empowered to fulfill their numerous functions to eradicate poverty and ensure children's education. Healthy families produce healthy communities, and healthy communities create healthy families.
Therefore, Pendeza Uganda's sustainable family development program focuses on building healthy communities by promoting the economic capacities of community members and developing leaders who are committed, connected, and compassionate with a stake in the future of their communities. Our program encourages, trains, and empowers families to take personal responsibility in fighting against poverty and thriving holistically.
3. Child sponsorship: Pendeza Uganda supports highly vulnerable children accessing quality education. We ensure that such children are enrolled and retained in schools. By sponsoring a child at a minimum of $40 per month, you can help the child's family and community reach self-sustainability and dignity. We select families who, despite living in the direst of circumstances, show genuine commitment to their child's education, provide a safe living environment for their children, and cooperate with our community-based facilitators and education staff.
Our child sponsorship program goes beyond the child to introduce Christ to children who need Him the most. We train them in the principles of God, qualifying them to be called children of God. Getting a sponsor is a significant step for the children, and we know from experience that sponsors can hugely positively influence their lives.
